P62-M marijuana torched in Kalinga, Benguet towns

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Marijuana plants valued at P62
million were burned during anti-narcotics operations in Tinglayan, Kalinga and
Kibingan, Benguet, police said.
In Kalinga, raids started around 5:30 a.m. June 24 and ended on afternoon of the 26th in the Tinglayan town villages of Buscalan, Butbut Proper and Loccong.
Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and personnel of the local police destroyed around 310,000 marijuana plants in three plantations, which have a total land area of 25,950 square meters.
Reports submitted to Cordillera police director Ronald O. Lee said a total of 28 marijuana plantation sites were discovered with 26 found in Kalinga and two found in Benguet.
In Badeo, Kibungan, Benguet, joint police of Kibungan Municipal Police Station, Benguet Police Provincial Office, and PDEA-CAR discovered 80 fully grown marijuana plants worth P360,000.00.
All marijuana plants and dried stalks were burned at the site.
Meanwhile, P60,000 worth of Marijuana plants were discovered and destroyed by cops in Botbot, Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet on June 24.
Police chanced upon the marijuana plantation site while on patrol.
Personnel of 1st Benguet PMFC found 1,500 marijuana seedlings worth P60,000 planted in a forest.
All marijuana seedlings were uprooted and destroyed.
In all raids, no cultivator was apprehended. Investigation is on to identify cultivators.
