BAGUIO CITY — The local health office here urged residents and tourists to wear jackets and other thick clothing as temperature continues to drop.
Authorities reported Baguio experienced a drop of temperature up to 12.2 degrees Celsius due to the northeast monsoon or Amihan affecting Luzon as of 5 a.m. of Dec. 25, 2022.
On Dec. 24, state weather bureau PAGASA announced Baguio recorded 12.4 degrees Celsius, while warmest temperature of the day was at 20.2 degrees Celsius.
Cold weather is enhanced by freezing strong winds blowing to the northeast amid cloudy skies.
Scattered rains all over the city are expected because of the effect of the northeast monsoon.
The coldest temperature in Baguio City was recorded at 6.3 degrees celsius on Jan. 16, 1961. The drop of temperature in the city starts as early as November to February of the following year.
