BAGUIO CITY -- City officials urged public and private schools here  to conduct creative activities like arts and music lessons in their institutions to provide alternative activities for pupils and students to cope up with Covid-19 pandemic.
Under resolution 562, series of 2022, city legislators said creative activities will boost self-confidence and self-expression of pupils and students.
During the Scout Official for a Day (SOFAD) regular session on Nov. 7, the SOFAD Council adapted the proposal of SOFAD councilor Ralph Gwyneth T. Sapdoy requesting all public and private schools in the city to conduct creative activities like arts and music lessons in their respective institutions.
Article XIV, Section 15 of the 1987 Constitution, provides that arts and letters shall enjoy the patronage of the State.
The State shall conserve, promote, and popularize the nation’s historical and cultural heritage and resources, as well as artistic creations.
The body said arts and music are vital in child development and whether they are exposed to arts and music in schools or through private and community classes and lessons, the benefits of these are said to be incredible.
The council said arts and music exposure do more than provide creative outlets for kids as it provides mental, emotional and educational benefits. -- Dexter A. See
