Baguio council sets P5.1-M medical aid for poor patients

BAGUIO CITY -- The City Council
recently allotted P5.1 million for the city government’s medical assistance or
city aid program for indigent patients in the city for year 2023 at the Baguio
General Hospital and Medical Center.
Under resolution 401, series of 2023, local legislators said out of the amount, P600,000 will be allotted to the city mayor, P510,000 to the city vice mayor while City Council members will be allotted P 266,000 each.
Earlier, the City Council passed resolution 310, series of 2023 authorizing the city mayor representing the local government to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the BGHMC for implementation of the medical assistance city aid program for indigent patients in the city for the year 2023.
The city government allotted P17.1 million to be used as financial assistance to BGHMC under the said program.
The MOA inked by the city government and BGHMC stipulated P12 million shall be programmed for purchase of medical equipment for the BGHMC while the remaining P 5.1 million shall be used for implementation of the city aid program through the medical assistance to indigent patients Being treated in the hospital.
The approved resolution will be transmitted to the BGHMC for the management’s information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action.
Indigent patients wanting to avail of the medical assistance from city officials must present their medical abstract and diagnosis from their respective physicians and their certificates of indigency subject to assessment by the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
