Itogon mayor: Tourism thriving in municipality

ITOGON, Benguet – The tourism industry of this mining town is now booming with influx of foreign and domestic visitors to tourist destinations in town.

Mayor Bernard Waclin said this was based in his visits to tourist spots where there had been increase of foreign and domestic visitors.

This opened direct and indirect economic opportunities to Itogon residents, he added.

Itogon is well-known for its trekking destinations.

These include Mount Ulap in Barangay Ampucao and Mount Ugo in Barangay Tinongdan.

Hot spring resorts also abound in Barangay Poblacion.

During recent years, several international trail running events were held in scenic mountains of the municipality.
