Cordi PNP brass, ladies give relief goods to Abra, Benguet typhoon victims

BANGUED, Abra – Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo Jr. headed distribution of relief goods to families affected by Typhoon Egay last week, the regional police information office reported.
Police Regional Office key officers who helped in the distribution included Col. Froiland B. Lopez , Abra police director; Col. Ronald V. Gayo, deputy regional director for operations; Col. Byron B. Tegui-in, Regional Community Affairs and Development Division chief; Col. James D. Mangili, chief of the Regional Operations Division; Col. Ronald L. Sacyat, chief of Regional Comptrollership Division; Col. Reguel Santa Maria, Logistics and Research Development Division chief and Lt. Col. Ruel D. Tagel, Acting Force Commander of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15.
A total of 275 food packs were distributed to families of Barangay Calaba South, Bangued while178 food packs were given to families from Pagala Siblong, Bucay.
The relief packs distributed were donations from stakeholders during launch of PROCOR Help and Foodbank on July 22.
Beyond relief, this aims to strengthen the relationship between stakeholders and the police to help folks in need, especially during calamities.
In his message, the regional director expressed sympathy to victims of the typhoon, saying relief operation would serve as an inspiration to victims to continue to cooperate and assist each other to rise from the disaster and overcome challenges.
In Benguet, the PROCor’s Officers Ladies Club (OLC), led by Grace Peredo, in partnership with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Montessori, held a relief operation in Virac, Itogon, on July 29.
The activity was joined by police from the Benguet Police Provincial Office led by Col. Damina Olsim, Benguet police director and Itogon Municipal Police Station headed by Maj. Mathew Burogs.
The team distributed relief packs of rice, assorted canned goods and dry goods to 21 evacuees who evacuated at Virac Elementary School.
The team also visited the bereaved family of a casualty whose house was buried by a landslide in Gumatdang, Itogon.
The family received relief packs and cash assistance from the members of the OLC.
