The cell phone is a fabulous invention. In today’s lifestyle, we can no longer do many things without it. But knowing that excessive use is very dangerous and in fact could kill far more people than smoking because of radiation, we should limit our use if possible. We should take prudent and simple precautionary measures in the use of cell phones in a way that is most compatible in preserving our health.

Radiation is energy that is transmitted in the form of rays, waves, or particles. The radiation emitted by cell phones is known as electromagnetic radiation. Researches and studies show that our body is exposed to radiation while making or receiving calls. Cell phone when turn on emits radiation intermittently even if is not actually being used.

Wearing cell phone on one’s hip may weaken one’s bone in the area of one’s pelvis. Men who carry their cell phones attached to their belts for an average of 15 hours a day, for about six years will find that their bone mineral density lower on the side of the pelvis where the mobile phones are being carried. Cell phone radiation can also affect other sensitive organs of the body including the liver, kidneys, colon and bladder.

Using cell phones for 10 years or more approximately doubles the risk of being diagnosed with brain tumor on the same side of the head where the cell phone is typically held.

Children are far more vulnerable to cell phone radiation than adults. They should never use cell phones or any wireless devices of any kind. Children have thinner skull bones than adults thus children are more susceptible to greater penetration of radiation. Considering too, their immune system are not as well developed as adults.

The Federal Communications Commission sets the acceptable U.S. radiation standards for cell phones. The effects of the radiation depend on the rate at which energy is absorbed by a mass of tissue. This is called as the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) and measured in watts per kilogram (W/kg). Most handset makers use private certification companies to test the SAR on their devices.

Some cell phones have a radiation level as high as 2.50. These phones must be banned. As much as possible, we should use land lines at home and at work rather than use our cell phones to minimize our exposure to cell phone radiation. We should use our cell phones only out of need.

According to scientific test and evaluation, the lowest 20 radiation levels in cellular phones were found out Although any form of radiation level in a cell phone may seem dangerous, 16 Samsung phone models were found have the lowest levels in the study: The others are HTC Imagio, Motorola Karma, ATT Quickfire and Sonim XPI.
