Anti-corruption advocate’s wife receives death threats

BONTOC,
Mountain Province -- Gertrude Dominguez,a doctor and wife of
anti-corruption advocate Juniper Dominguez received death
threats from unidentified persons telling her to advise her husband
to stop “extorting” contractors.
The
letter, written in Tagalog language, printed in artistic font, and mailed in
San Fernando La Union August 31, 2012 threatened Dr. Dominguez, the
provincial Social Security System (SSS) supervisor.
Juniper
Dominguez spokesperson of Volunteers Against Corruption led
anti-corruption moves which led to the investigation of
reported irregularities of the SONA road projects along Halsema
Highway and the speedy rehabilitation of said road, including replacement
of substandard works .
Dominguez
had also worked for investigation of Department of Public works and
Highways officers who were charged for corruption.
In his letter to regional police director
chief Supt.Benjamin Magalong, Dominguez
said he suspected letter senders were corrupt contractors of Mountain Province
taking advise and orders from their boss who is a top politician.
Members
of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines recently
visited Dr. Dominguez in their home and assured her they were investigating the
case.
