Hot lumber seized in Benguet; cops arrest two men

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Illegally sawn pine lumber and a chain saw were confiscated in different town of Benguet last week as a result of police operations.

In Tublay, police headed by Senior Insp. Ronald Viscara intercepted an Elf Truck bearing plate number PHB-979 loaded with 83 board feet of pine lumber on August 18 in Sitio Bangho, Barangay Daclan in thew town.

A police report said the driver and owner of the vehicle, a certain Warry P. Velasco, 41 of Banayakeo, Atok town was arrested.

Velasco and the confiscated items were brought to the police station for documentation prior to the filing of criminal case against him.

In Kabayan, police seized one chainsaw and 222 board feet illegally sawn pine lumbers valued at P 3,996.00 in SitioToliling and KinabanKilop of Barangay Bashoy in the town on August 21.

Seized items were brought to Kabayan police station while investigation is on to identification  the illegal loggers.
