Woman with P.5 marijuana- nabbed in Tabuk checkpoint

TABUK
CITY, Kalinga -- A 28-year old woman, an alleged drug courier, was arrested by
police and anti-narcotics operatives in possession of at least P550,000 worth
of dried marijuana leaves in brick form while boarding a Baguio-bound GL bus at
a police checkpoint here at SitioTalaka, Barangay Agbannawang around 6 a.m.
Thursday.
Chief
Supt. Benjamin B. Magalong, regional police director, identified the arrested
drug couriers as Merlyn DangsoyGuimba,, ofTulgao West, Tinglayan, Kalinga
and a resident of Luyocan, Lacnog, Tabuk City.
Guimba
was found in possession of 22 pieces of dried marijuana brick weighing 22 kg
valued at P550,000 while boarding a GL Trans bound for Baguio City.
Representatives
from the Department of Justice, barangay and media witnessed inventory of the
confiscated drug items.
The
contrabands were turned over to the Kalinga Provincial Crime Laboratory Office
for examination while the arrested woman was turned-over to the Kalinga
PAIDSOTG for documentation and disposition and appropriate case is being
prepared for filing at the Prosecutor’s Office against her.
The
operating troops were composed of Joint members of the 3rd Maneuver
Company of the Regional Public Safety Battalion led by Senior Insp. John
BangcawayanCayat JR., Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task
Group and Intelligence Branch of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office.
Magalong
ordered police operating units in the region to up their anti-drug campaign.
