Frustrated slay ends in amicable settlement

PARACELIS,
Mountain Province -- A case of frustrated murder was amicably
settled through the intervention of elders done the customary way in the
case of accused Rejic Lamong and victim Robert Angnganay both residents of
Poblacion Paracelis.
With facilitation from the peace and order committee members and
chairman Mike Assud of the Sangguniang Bayan here, intervening elders compelled
the accused to pay P180,000 for damages he caused the victim.
This, as the resolution of the case arrived at an amicable settlement is
soon to reach the Regional Trial Court in Bontoc where the case was filed
September this year.
Angnganay from Tanudan, Kalinga and Lamong from
Natonin both residents of Poblacion Paracelis met in one of the liquor bars at
Poblacion in one drunken stupor which resulted to the accused shooting the
victim last September.
