BAYOMBONG,
Nueva Vizcaya – A hailstorm hit Bagabag town in this province, causing
panic among residents and damage to property on May 31.
Municipal
Councilor DodiInaldo said the hailstorm was unusual because it is still summer.
“Hailstones
as big as marbles destroyed roofs and broke glass windows while the winds
uprooted trees and felled lamp posts in the villages of San Pedro and
Baretbet,” Inaldo said.
A
police officer’s son was almost carried away by the wind as he was driving his
motorcycle along Baretbet Bridge.
A
dump truck was pinned by an acacia tree uprooted by the storm.
Chief
Insp. Claveria Villegas, town police chief, said a sign fell to the ground.
Reports
said some bystanders suffered injuries after they were hit by hailstones. –
