SLU top performing school in mining engineering board exam

BAGUIO
CITY – Saint Louis University (SLU) here was top performing school
nationwide in the August 2016 Mining Engineer licensure examination
conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission.
Some
48 out of 60 examinees of SLU passed the board exam for an 80 percent passing
rate.
A total of 211 out of 259 examinees
nationwide passed the licensure examination given by the Board of
Mining Engineering in Manila, Baguio, Cebu and Legaspi earlier this month.
The PRC announced that starting August 18,
2016, registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card and
Certificate of Registration will be done on-line. Board passers are advised to
visit www.prc.gov.ph and follow
instructions for initial registration.
Successful examinees should personally
register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals. They are required
to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpang Propesyonal,
2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name
tag) and 2 sets of documentary stamps.
Meanwhile, SLU Engineering Department head
engineer Romeo Santos said their new mining engineers will practice responsible
and sustainable mining.
Santos
said the university taught and equipped their students with right
knowledge and understanding of the mining industry giving importance to the
environmental aspect of mining.
He said responsible mining is part o the
curriculum of the mining engineering.
He said they believe and support the advocacy
being pushed by President Rodrigo Duterte and DENR Secretary Gina Lopez in
making sure that mining companies are practicing responsible and sustainable
mining in the country.
He is positive that despite the closure of several
mining companies due to lapses on the effect of environment, mining will not be
eradicated but would shape up to become a better industry
