Tanod shot dead in Abra mayor’s rubber plantation

LAGAYAN, Abra – A barangay tanod was shot dead here by still unidentified men here Monday around 7 a.m. at SitioLucgay, Barangay Collago at the rubber tree plantation of Mayor Jandricks Luna.

The victim was identified as Ronie Cay-an Medrano, 38, resident of same place. 

Investigation conducted by Lagayan police and 24th IB, Philippine Army disclosed  companions of Medrano, identified as Jay-ArSibnagen Pedro, 22; VirgilioTeofilo Alcantara, 34 and Joebel Bengad Dave, 18, all workers of the plantation and all residents of SitioLucgay, Collago, were cleaning weeds when they heard consecutive gunfire’s emanating from different directions.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body causing his instant death. Police found several spent bullets in the area. 

        The cadaver was brought to Tamo Funeral Homes at Poblacion, Tayum, Abra for autopsy.
