TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- A rice farmer from this city has qualified to the 2016 search for National Gawad Saka Awards.
Honorio Clemencia of Barangay Balong is vying for the Most Outstanding Integrated Rice-based Farmer in the Gawad Saka Awards of the Department of Agriculture (DA) for the year.
City Agriculturist Julibert Aquino said Clemencia cultivates a two-hectare riceland
in their barangay which he integrates with the tropical fruits like mango, lanzones, lime and rambutan. He also raises pigs, ducks and fish.
Through his integrated farming, Clemencia is able to provide for education of his five children, with three already finished with the college education and are now employed.

In 2012, Teodoro Kub-ao of Barangay Bulo, here, won the same award.
