Singson, PNP sign MOA
to rid Ilocos Sur of drugs
By Myds Supnad
VIGAN,
Ilocos Sur – Philippine National Police Director
General Ronald M. Dela Rosa said he has started a program to rid the
PNP of scalawags and misfits.
De
La Rosa warned police scalawags to stop their illegal activities which tainted
image of the PNP during his recent command visits in Ilocos Region.
At
Camp Elpidio Quirino in Bulag Bantay
town, Dela Rosa said “internal cleansing” is ongoing in the PNP.
He
urged cops to identify misfits and rogues in uniform so they could be properly
disciples or charged.
“I
challenge you to do your job well in accordance with the rule of
law, PNP guidelines and procedures and with morality
and integrity since that we are dedicated in continuing the campaign
against illegal drugs,” De la Rosa added.
De la Rosa also graced an anti-drugs summit
in Vigan where Gov. Ryan Singson, Ilocos police director Chief
Supt. Charlo C. Collado and top police officials signed an
agreement to make Ilocos Sur drug-free.
Ilocos Sur
police acting police director Senior Supt. Rey De Peralta and
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional
director Jeoffrey C. Tacio also signed the agreement.
Collado in his message expressed
gratitude to De La Rosa for giving inspiration not just to members of
the PNP but also government officials, stakeholders, civilians and students
supportive in campaign against illegal drugs.
Collado urged
participants to serve with commitment and dedication to
make Ilocos Sur a drug free province.
Meanwhile,
De la Rosa and Collado visited one of wounded personnel confined
at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in San
Fernando City, La Union.
The
cop was wounded during recent ambush of New People’s Army guerillas on a police
convoy to reinforce cops surrounded in Malibcong, Abra by other members of
the communist group.
