Ex-vice mayor, PDEA agent, PNP officer slain in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – A former vice
mayor, a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agent and police officer were shot
dead in the province last week.
The former vice mayor
of Alcala was shot dead Wednesday by unidentified armed men in Barangay Carig,
Tuguegarao City.
Supt. Edward Guzman, Tuguegarao City police
chief said former Vice Mayor Alexander Pascual was shot dead at around 6:25
a.m. that day.
Pascual was on his motorcycle
when the assailants, aboard a black sport utility vehicle, pulled over and shot
the victim repeatedly.
Pascual died on the spot.
The police said
politics or personal issues may be the motive behind the attack.
Investigators are calling on witnesses to
provide information on the attack.
Meantime last Monday,
a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agent was shot dead along Pengue Ruyu,
also in Tuguegarao City.
Supt. Edward Guzman,
said the shooting incident happened at around 12:45 p.m.
The victim was
identified as Mark Anthony Ventura, a resident of Barangay San Gabriel,
Tuguegarao City.
He was shot dead by
two gunmen who were on board a motorcycle.
In Alcala town in the
province, gunmen riding a motorcycle attacked and killed a police officer who
was on his way to a police station as part of the night detail in Alcala
town night of Sept. 29.
Senior Police Officer
3 Romeo Bueno, 39, died from multiple gunshot wounds on the head and body,
said Senior Supt. Warren Tolito, Cagayan provincial police director.
Bueno was followed by
the assailants as he drove his motorcycle from his house. The gunmen shot him
several times with a handgun. Bueno died on the spot.
Police are examining
Bueno’s cases to determine if the attack was work-related.
