BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan – A P2.3 million reward
awaits anyone who can identify and provide information that will lead to the
arrest of the brains behind the killing of former town councilor Levin Uy.
Bayambang Mayor Cezar
Quiambao raised P2 million while Samahan ng Industriya (SINAG ) chairman Engr.
Rosendo So offered an additional P300,000.
Quiambao believes that
killing of Uy was politically motivated.
Uy, he said, has been receiving death threats.
“Marami na siyang death
threats na natatangap at may kauganyan sa pulitika, siguro kung di na siya
tumakbo (konsehal ) hindi na ito mangyayari sa kaniya (He has been receiving
death threats related to politics, perhaps if he did not file his candidacy for
councilor, this would not have happened),” Quiambao added.
Police said Uy, managing
director of the Kasama Kita sa Barangay Foundation, a nongovernment
organization, and school administrative aide Cesar Salosagcol sustained
multiple gunshot wounds and were rushed to the Bayambang District Hospital.
Uy, however, was declared dead on arrival by
the attending physician.
Quiambao appealed to
Pangasinan politicians help stop the killings in the province.
“ Hindi
pa nagsisimula ang kampanya ay nagagawa na nila ang manakot at pumatay (The
campaign period hasn’t started and yet some people have already started
threatening and killing),” he added.
