CSC posthumously awards MPcop slain in clash with NPA

BONTOC, Mountain Province — Civil Service Commission (CSC) Cordillera Regional Director Marilyn E. Taldo awarded the posthumous Pamanang Lingkod Bayani (PLBi) to the family of the late PO2 Henry T. Dion in recognition of his dedication, selflessness and sacrifice in the performance of his duties in recent rites here at the Provincial Plaza.

The PLBi is a tribute to civilian public servants who displayed the character of a “bayani” in public service. It confers a posthumous citation plaque, a scholarship program in any of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges ( P A S U C ) - m e m b e r institutions to the immediate family members, and a onetime financial assistance of P100,000.00.

 In her message, Taldo said the PLBi is not only conferred to police officers but to all civil servants who died while in the performance of their respective functions and responsibilities. CSC Resolution mentioned that PO2 Henry Dion died while in the performance of his duties and responsibilities as a police officer to ensure the safety of the public.

 He died during an encounter with suspected armed terrorists while conducting Internal Security Operations dubbed “Oplan Labuyo” on June 5, 2018 in the vicinity of Mt. Sisipitan in Sagada. Director Anita Verina T. Paredes of CSC Mountain Province said this was the first awarding to be conducted in the province since for the previous years, PLBi awarding were conducted at the regional office.

“As part of our information dissemination, we requested our Regional Director to be with us here so that we will be aware that there is a program called PLBi, and if there are other cases that we were not informed just visit our office and inform us if there is a civil servant who died in the performance of his/her duties,” Paredes said. -PIA Mt.
