2 farmers electrocuted

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — Two farmers died of electrocution while planting palay in Sitio San Gregorio, Barangay Cabittaogan, Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur on Monday.
Police said Mauricio Racsa, 70, accidentally touched a live wire attached to a water pump.
Christian John Apolina, 20, was electrocuted when he tried to save Racsa.
The victims were pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital in Vigan.

Teacher gets raps for sex abuse of boy

ECHAGUE, Isabela -- A male public school teacher has been charged on Wednesday for alleged sexual abuse of a boy here n Barangay San Fabian. Maj. Andy Orilla, Echague police chief, said the suspect, a neighbor of the victim, 9, posted bail of P120,000 recommended by Regional Trial Court Judge Bonifacio Ong.
The victim claimed the teacher forced him to perform sexual acts several times last year.
The Department of Education has yet to file administrative charges against the suspect.     

  Barangay official nabbed for threatening to eat dog 

BAGUIO CITY – A barangay kagawad was arrested after he threatened to eat the dog of a resident here at No. 34, Lower Phil-Am on Tuesday around 7 p.m.
A certain Stephanie Sharmaine Quita filed a complaint for unjust vexation at the police station saying barangay kagawad Henry C. Roman insisted to give a copy of complaint to her  while  pushing the door and entering the house, shouting and uttering repeatedly, “Kakainin ko yung aso niyo, wala akong paki kung sino ang may-ari (I will eat your dog, I don’t care who owns it ,”  prompting her to report the incident to police.

Man shot in Kabugao brawl

KABUGAO, Apayao – A commotion turned deadly here Wednesday resulting in a brawl between two groups resulting to the shooting of a man.
A police report said the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. at Sitio Landing, Poblacion saying a certain Julius Bitayong was shot.
Investigation disclosed a commotion ensued between the group of Bitayong and group of Cabili Tayad until Bitayong and Cabili engaged in a fist fight and while grappling with each other.
Bitayong bit the nose of Tayad that resulted in tearing of the upper portion of his nose, then a gunshot came from unknown direction hitting the right elbow of Bitayong. The victims were rushed to Apayao District Hospital by responding police.

 Laborer arrested at Baguio LTO area

BAGUIO CITY – Police arrested a man here Tuesday at Land Transportation Office Compound, Saint Joseph Village for physical injuries.
Nabbed was Marlo Tranate Sacluti , 31, married, construction worker, and a resident of Purok 7, Saint Joseph Village, Navy Base, after warrant was issued against him by Roberto R. Mabalot, Judge of MTCC, Branch 1, Baguio City. Bail of P1, 000 was set for the suspect’s temporary liberty.

Man cornered for child abuse 

BAGUIO CITY – A man was cornered here Tuesday by police for child abuse along Naguillian Road. Nabbed was Ivan Dominguez Quilacio, legal age, married, resident of MA 50 Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet after warrant was issued against him by Mia Joy C. Oallares-Cawed, presiding judge of First Judicial Region, Branch 4, Baguio City.
Cawed set bail of P80, 000 for Quilacio’s temporary liberty.

Man nabbed in Kiangan,  Ifugao for child abuse

KIANGAN, Ifugao -- A certain Marvin B. Dum-an was arrested here Tuesday at Poblacion for violation of Republic Act 7610 (child abuse).
Dum-an was arrested after warrant was issued against him by judge Romeo U. Habbiling, RTC, Branch 14, Lagawe, Ifugao. The judge set bail of P80,000 for Dum-an’s temp[orary liberty.

 Trinidad bizwoman arrested for estafa

BAGUIO CITY – A businesswoman was arrested here Tuesday around 12 noon at Victoria Supermarket, Mabini St. for estafa.
The suspect was identified as Melanie C Tublan, 37, single, of LB 87A Rocky Side 1, Lubas, La Trinidad, Benguet .
This, after arrest warrant was issued against her by Michael Francisco, judge of RTC, Branch 6, Baguio City.
The judge set bail of P16, 000 for Tublan’s temporary liberty.

 Man held for child abuse in Bangued

BANGUED, Abra – Cops arrested here Tuesday a certain Arnold Brillantes Jr. for child abuse after Raphiel T. Alzate, executive judge of RTC, Branch 1, Bangued, Abra issued warrant against him while setting bail of P180, 000 for his temporary liberty.

 Woman held in Baguio for estafa

BAGUIO CITY – A 50-year old woman was arrested here Tuesday for estafa. Nabbed at Lot 27 Block 4, Middle Quirino Hill was Charlene Gatiwan Fajardo, married, resident of said place after warrant was issued against her by Michael V. Francisco, presiding judge of RTC, Branch 6, Baguio City.
The judge set bail of P20, 000 for Fajardo’s temporary liberty.

Bail denied to man held for malicious mischief

BAGUIO CITY – A judge denied bail to a man who was nabbed here Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. at Malcolm Square for malicious mischief.
Arrested was Marvin Dom-Ayan Lapaan, 36, married, driver, and resident of 155, San Vicente, Kennon Road after warrant was issued against him by Maria Clarita Casuga Tabin, presiding judge of MTC, Branch 4, Baguio City.

 Construction workers mauled in front of LT bar

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A man and a woman were seriously injured when they were manhandled here by a group around 1:40 a.m. of June 23 in front of Montañosa Bar, Barangay Puguis.
Police Sgt. Igualdo identified the victims as Zargo Juan Tandagen, 18 and Judy Camoyao Yubos, 19, both single and construction workers while suspects are still unidentified.
Investigation disclosed the victims came from Montañosa Bar but Tandagen forgot his jacket and ball cap so they went back to said establishment but it was already closed.
The victims peeped at the window when they heard a lady shouting, “Adda agtatakaw (There are thieves),” so they went down to the parking area where two men hit the victims with a steel pipe in different parts of their body.
When the companions of the victims arrived the suspects fled to unknown direction. The victims were brought to Benguet General Hospital for medication.

 Drunk driver slams trike onto SUV 

KIANGAN, Ifugao – A drunk tricycle driver slammed his vehicle onto a parked SUV around 9:30 p.m. on June 19 here at Poblacion in front of Irene Carbonel’s Hardware.
Police Master Sgt. Belingon said the brown SUV with plate no. A2A908, was owned by Mylene Puguan Cumti, 47 of Poblacion South, Lagawe, while the tricycle was owned by Jayson Baguillat and driven by Thomas Tuguinayo Tayaban, 28 of Poblacion who was found without driver’s license.
Investigation disclosed the SUV was parked at the shoulder of the road while the tricycle was traversing from Nagacadan, Kiangan going to the market when it bumped the SUV on its back.
Both vehicles involved were taken into custody of by town police pending disposition of the case.

Thieves ransack P20-K goods at Ifugao market

ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao – Still unidentified thieves broke into two stalls at the public market here night of June 22 and stole around P20,000 worth of assorted dry goods like shoes and T-shorts.
A police report said market maintenance personnel David Ewic called local police station early morning of June 23 and reported the incident.
Sgt. Bobby P. Bumanghat said thieves removed sacks or canvass cover of dry goods placed on a table and took around P6,400 worth of clothes owned by Frederick D. Guinumtad, 33 , married, native of Mayoyao, Ifugao.
The thieves also took P14,240 worth of goods owned by Janet Cadag, married, resident of Sta. Maria Alfonso Lista town.

Farmer nabbed breaking into La Trinidad building

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The quick response of police led to arrest of a man who tried to break into an establishment here around 2:25 a.m. of June 23.
Nabbed was suspect Filber Faustino Mendoza, a.k.a Rex Faustino Dumaliw, 22, farmer, of Cotcot Abatan 90, Buguias, Benguet.
Police Sgt. Dawaton said the attempted robbery transpired at IC 106-C Swamp, Betag as reported by complainant Julie Ann Sapitula Jose, 29, resident of the building.
Investigation Sapitula was at the 3rd floor of the building when she was awakened by a banging sound from the 2nd floor which contained flat screen TV, videoke, refrigerator, liquor and a collection of around P300,000.
This prompted her to view the CCTV camera and saw a man wearing a blue jacket, white ball cap and black face mask trying to force open the roll up door. She called her friend, a certain Joshua Atinan to report the incident to police.
Cops of police station 2 responded and arrested the suspect who tried to flee using a motorcycle. The suspect was detained while Sapitula went to police station the next day around 7 a.m. to file complaint against the suspect.

Tinoc drinking spree turns bloody

TINOC, Ifugao – A drinking spree turned bloody here when a farmer hacked another here around 11 p.m. of June 23 which resulted to the attacker being knifed.  
Police said a certain Greg T. Lamsis 32, farmer of Barangay Tukucan reported to police that Joery M. Damullog, 36, single, farmer barangay Eheb was hacked by Carlos Ligmayo also of Tukucan that evening.
Officer in charge Master Sgt. Alan M. Andrade said investigation disclosed around 11 p.m., the suspect and companions had a drinking spree at the house of the victim when the wife of the suspect fetched him, as a result they called it a night.
At around 11:30 of the same date, Damullog and Lamsis were urinating outside the house, when they saw Ligmayo holding a bolo while his wife was trying to pacify him.
Damullog tried to calm the suspect but Ligmayo suddenly hacked the victim on his right cheek. The suspect was restrained by his wife while Lamsis carried the victim away but when he looked back, he saw the suspect running after them with a bolo.
Lamsis threw a stone Ligmayo to keep him at a distance but still, the suspect kept chasing them.
Lamsis later threw a stone again which hit the suspect and was able to get the bolo from him.
While Lamsis was aiding the victim, Ligmayo tried to attack them with another bolo he got from their house but Lamsis was able to stab the left thigh of the suspect, which gave them opportunity to run and call for help.
Damullog was brought Tinoc District Hospital while Ligmayo  was also brought to same hospital by the responding neighbors. Both Damullog and Ligmayo were still recuperating at the same hospital at press time.
The victim requested that said case be referred at the barangay for amicable settlement. Progress report to follow. 

Robbery gang member arrested in La Trinidad

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A member of so-called Quintos Robbery Gang was arrested here June 23 along km 5 here at  Barangay Pico by La Trinidad, Baguio and Bagulin, La Union cops for theft.
Nabbed was Filber Faustino Mendoza a.k.a Rex Faustino Dumaliw, 22 of Tagodtod, Bagulin after Ivan Kim B. Morales, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court, First Judicial Region, Branch 59, Baguio City issued warrant against him.
Morales set bail of P20,000 for Mendoza’s temporary liberty and P5,000 for a case of physical injuries. Another arrest warrant was issued against Faustino by Mia Joy C. Oallares-Cawed, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court, Branch 4, Baguio City for theft. Cawed set bail of P20,000.
A police report said the Quintos gang was involved in robbery and snatching in Baguio City and nearby towns.

Man wanted for rape nabbed in Conner

CONNER, Apayao – A man wanted for rape was arrested here  June 22 at Barangay Manag, Conner by local and Quezon, Isabela police.
Arrested was Rodolfo “Junjun” Pansoy, 36 of Barocboc, Quezon, Isabela. This, after Judge Bernabe B Mendoza of Roxas, Isabela RTC, Branch 23, issued warrant against him while setting bail of P200,000 for his temporary liberty.

 Attempted homicide lands man in jail

BAGUIO CITY – A certain Elias D Binohlan was nabbed here June 20 at No. 108 Middle Rock Quarry for attempted homicide. This, after judge Leody M. Opolinto of MTCC Branch 3, Baguio City issued warrant for his arrest.

DPWH employee dies, 3  hurt in Abra road mishap 

LICUAN, Baay – A man died while three others, all employees of the Dept. of Public Works and Highways were injured when the truck they were riding in lost its brake, rammed a mountainside, fell down and rested on its side.
A police report said the accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on June 20 here along Abra-Kalinga Road at Sitio Nagpawayan, Barangay Subagan.  The report said the Isuzu forward truck bearing plate No. WHM 913 loaded with stones was driven by Wacky T Bayquen with three passengers identified as Jemerson B Pugal, Eddie Boy Mogol, Diosdado A. Buenafe.
The victims were rushed to Abra Provincial Hospital but Mogol was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
