BANGUED, Abra -- The
Dept. of Interior and Local Government– Abra rolled out its CORE provincial
roadshow gathering leaders of barangays, province and representatives from
national government agencies, academe, and civil society organizations.
The
provincial roadshow, which is in line with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s
political agenda and campaign for a Constitutional Reform (CORE), was held at
the Divine Word College of Bangued Gymnasium with over 2,000 participants.
DILG-Abra
Provincial Director Millicent Cariño said the activity was a venue for
convergence to create a dialogue between the government and the people about
the advocacy on CORE.
Cariño
discussed the four pillars of CORE which are “Pagyamanin ang Probinsiya,
Paluwagin ang Metro Manila”; “Gobyerno para sa Tao, Hindi Para sa Trapo”;
“Bukas na Ekonomiya nang Lahat may Pagasa”, and “Bagong Konstitusyon para sa
Bagong Henerasyon.”
In her
message conveyed by Provincial Board Member Antonio Dayag, Governor Maria
Jocelyn Bernos said she fully supports reform in the Constitution
which will potentially lead to the realization of regional autonomy.
“The
Provincial Government of Abra is committed to support a constitutional reform
and the pursuit of our regional autonomy,” she said.
Dayag urged
the barangays to be a part of this movement and re-echo the advocacy in their
respective areas.
Abra
Representative Joseph Sto. Niño Bernos acknowledged the participants for
attending the activity as he assured that he will give full attention to the
queries of the Abrenians on CORE.
“I’m here to
listen and be open to all your queries, suggestions and concerns for me to
raise up at the Congress,” Bernos said.
Earlier this
month, Bernos and his fellow Cordillera congressmen filed House Bill 5687
seeking for the establishment of the Autonomous Region of Cordillera.
“The eventual
passage of this bill will be the first step in realizing our dreams of a
united, peaceful, prosperous and distinctively unique community that our
forefathers dreamt for us,” Bernos said in his official Facebook
page. (JDP/CAGT- PIA-CAR, Abra).
