Ph Coast guard member, Ifugao’s 2nd Covid-19 case; 28 recover in Baguio

LAMUT, Ifugao -- A Philippine
Coast Guard (PCG) member based in Binondo, Manila is Ifugao’s second
coronavirus disease (Covid-19) case, an official of the Lamut town health
office said on Tuesday.
Lamut
Municipal Health Officer (MHO) Dr. Rhodara Montessa confirmed the second case,
who is from Panopdopan, arrived in his hometown on May 1.
Following the
Department of Health protocols, the patient was brought to the Tourism Village
for the mandated 14-day quarantine, Montessa said.
She said the
patient had cough upon arrival and the swab test on him turned out positive.
The MHO is
now contact tracing to know who came in contact with the patient.
Ifugao’s
first recorded case was confirmed on April 26, a 65-year old villager from
Poblacion East, also in Lamut town. The patient has since then recovered.
Cordillera
has 34 recorded Covid-19 cases, 31 of which come from Baguio City, seven from
Benguet, three from Abra, and Ifugao’s two.
In Baguio, 28
of the patients have already recovered, with one death while two remain at the
hospital -- a 61-year-old overseas Filipino worker and a 41-year-old police
officer, whose confirmatory tests came in only on Tuesday.
In Benguet,
the seventh case was recorded Monday, a 26-year-old female overseas Filipino
workers, while Abra’s three patients have since then recovered.
The provinces
of Apayao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province remain Covid-19 free. (PNA)
