BAGUIO CITY –
The city government has limited tourist arrivals to a maximum of 3,000
daily to prevent incidents that would trigger another surge in the number of
Covid-19 cases. Mayor
Benjamin Magalong said tourist arrivals here since June 1 did not yet exceed
the prescribed 3,000 daily limit.
He added
daily tourist arrivals during weekdays reached 1,500 to 1,800 while those
during weekends stayed at about 5,000, still within the prescribed limit.
Magalong said
setting the limit was part of the city government's efforts to gradually and
safely revive the heavily impacted tourism industry here.
Daily tourist
arrivals did not yet exceed the prescribed limit even if the city started
accepting visitors from the National Capital Region (NCR or Metro Manila) Plus
bubble where bulk of the arrivals comes from, he said.
The NCR Plus
bubble covers Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal provinces.
Those who
want to visit the country's summer capital were advised to register in the
city's registration platform, visita.baguio.gov.ph, and for them to present
proof of registration to quarantine control checkpoints and the central triage
their respective QR-coded tourist passes and confirmed bookings in accredited
tourist establishments.
Some 374
hotels and transient houses in the city were issued certificates of
accreditation and certificates of compliance by the regional office of the
Dept. of Tourism that will allow them to accept tourists subject to existing
guidelines from the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging
Infectious Diseases.
