BAGUIO CITY – Offices of the city government were closed July 28 after Mayor Benjamin Magalong ordered the suspension of work due to a heavy downpour and strong winds caused by southwest monsoon.
Magalong said
bad weather posed danger to residents of Baguio and other places in northern
Luzon.
He said the
work suspension allowed government workers, except for those rendering services
during a calamity, to go home early for their safety.
Authorities
reminded the public, especially motorists, to be extra cautious when passing
through landslide-prone areas and slippery roads.
The latest
landslide recorded in the city was at Leonard Wood Road.
In nearby La
Trinidad town, Benguet province, work at the municipal hall was also suspended
starting at 1 p.m. due to intense rains.
