BONTOC, Mountain Province — The farmers in the province are among the most affected by the Coronavirus disease pandemic but with programs and projects of the national government and regional line agencies, the sector is coping up with the challenges of our times.
Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan bared this in Network Briefing program of Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar recently.
Lacwasan said road projects under this administration’s Build, Build, Build Program helped farmers easy access in bringing their farm produce to market buyers especially in Baguio City and La Trinidad, Benguet.
The governor said the national government’s “whole of nation approach” in ending armed conflicts in the country through the National Task Force- End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC’s) barangay development program benefited farmers.
He said agencies such as the regional offices of the Dept. of Agriculture, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and the Dept. of Social Welfare and Development, among others were actively
 involved in said programs.
On Covid – 19 response, Lacwasan said the provincial management is on top of the situations is far as infection control and case management is concerned.
Only one case of the Delta variant was confirmed in the province as strict border control is continuously being implemented and tourism activities are still closed.
He said anti-Covid vaccination is gaining ground in the province with around 40 percent of target population already vaccinated, either with their first dose or fully vaccinated. — JDP/CCD-PIA CAR
