2 held in Sabangan for illegal lumber

Province – Police nabbed two men here for transporting P20,470 worth of illegal
lumber here at Barangay Upper Tambingan on Nov. 7.
Suspects were identified as Christopher Wacnang Loangboan, 37 and Jerry Tabacla Bindadan, 20.
Police said they received a call from a concerned citizen about two vehicles loaded with sawn pine lumber at Upper Tambingan proceeding to the national highway.
Police and environment officials stopped the two and confiscated the lumber from these.
From the first vehicle, they found 56 pieces of sawn pine lumber worth P17,870.10 while from the other vehicle, they found 10 pieces of sawn pine lumber worth P2,600.
The two suspects were arrested after they failed to show documents in compliance with the Forestry Code.
Charges for violation of Presidential Decree 705 or Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines were filed against the suspects.
