BAGUIO CITY -- The historic Dominican Hill
Retreat Center will undergo conservation and rehabilitation management
application and turned into a creative hub.
The aim is to showcase the summer capital's rich cultural heritage and art practices.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong and National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) chairman Arsenio "Nick" Lizaso recently signed a memorandum of agreement that provides engagement of conservation experts to craft policies in re-developing the century-old retreat center.
It was originally built by the Dominicans as a school in 1915. It was turned into a hotel in the 1980's and acquired by the city in 2004.
The conservation management plan will be funded by a P15-million grant from the NCCA.
"Grateful words will never be enough to express fully our sincere appreciation to the NCCA for its all-out support in re-developing this historic facility that has served Baguio as a cultural haven and venue for creative programs," the mayor said.
