Cordillera PNP chief holds talks with Sadanga tribe to settle ‘tribal war’ with Bugnay

SADANGA, Mountain Province – The Cordillera regional police command held a peace dialogue with local folks here June 12 at Barangay Betwagan who are locked in a tribal war with neighboring Butbut tribe of Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga over boundary of the two tribes among other matters.
    Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee headed the Philippine National Police team to look into solutions in solving the conflict between the two tribes which had been going on for years. 
    With Lee were Brig. Gen. John C. Chua, deputy regional administration chief; Col. Benjamin DL Sembrano, deputy regional head for operations; Col. Elmer C. Ragay, chief of regional staff among other key officers. The PROCOR Command Group was warmly welcomed by the people of Betwagan with songs and traditional dances.
    Lee and top regional PNP officers talked with the Sadanga barangay peace and order council, elders and local leaders.
    During the open forum, they talked of other peace and order concerns in the area.
    Another highlight of the visit was the medical and dental mission initiated by regional police office in partnership with the Regional Medical and Dental Unit Cordillera.
    Around 500 beneficiaries of Betwagan availed of free medical check-ups, free dental services, blood pressure monitoring, and free circumcision services of the RMDU.
they also distributed vitamins for children donated by One Pharma and provided free haircut.
    They also distributed 400 gloves for farming and 200 pairs of slippers donated by the Regional Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development, Maezelle Psychotic Metier & Diagnostic Center and Pasig Bayanihan Lions Club.
    Representatives from TESDA also held an information drive on training, scholarship, and financial assistance while 100 coffee seedlings were given to the community by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist-Mountain Province.
    In his message, Lee thanked the people of Betwagan for their enthusiasm and commitment to lasting peace in Sadanga.
    He said through the outreach program, the PNP would be able to strengthen the bond between the people and be of help in bringing the services needed in far-flung areas.
