P27-M MJ torched in Kalinga; P374-K shabu seized in NE

TINGLAYAN, Kalinga -- Marijuana plants with an estimated value of P27 million were burned following a police operation in this tourist town Thursday.
    Personnel of the Drug Enforcement Group raided four marijuana plantations in Barangay Loccong at around 6 a.m., police said.
    No one was reportedly arrested during the operation.
    Meanwhile, in Nueva Ecija, authorities seized shabu with an estimated street value of P374,000 from a drug suspect they arrested in Cabanatuan.
    Vladimir Garcia, 50, yielded 55 grams of shabu to the arresting officers in Barangay Camp Tinio.
    Aside from shabu, police also seized identification cards and P2,050 cash from the suspect.
 

 2 men held in Baguio, Itogon for 17-K shabu


CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Two men are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after they were caught in buy-bust operations in Baguio City and Benguet on June 14.
    Reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified suspects as: Joel Waguis Abella Jr., 43 and Manabe Tukaki Guslab, 38.
    Abella was nabbed in Baguio City by elements of Regional PNP Drug Enforcement Unit and Pacdal Police Station after he sold a gram of suspected shabu worth P6,800.
    Additional 1.5 grams of suspected shabu valued at P10,200 were confiscated from him.
    In Itogon, Benguet, Guslab was arrested by Itogon police and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Benguet after he sold seven grams of suspected shabu worth P4,760 while another eight grams of the illegal drug worth P5,440 was confiscated from him.
    The arrested suspects and confiscated items were brought to the custody of the respective operating units.
