BAGUIO CITY— A total of 12 local government units in Cordillera bagged the 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award from the Dept. of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for upholding standard of transparency, integrity, and service delivery.
“We congratulate the 12 Cordillera LGUs that have made it to the list of this year's passers for the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). This demonstrates our LGUs' unwavering effort to pass all of the core and essential criteria for the coveted award," said DILG Cordillera regional director Araceli San Jose.
The passers composed of 11 municipalities and one component city made it to list of recipients that met “all or nothing” criteria to get the award.
Municipal awardees: Bucay, Dolores, La Paz, Peñarrubia and Tayum town in Abra; Conner, Apayao; Asipulo, and Lamut in Ifugao; Pasil, and Rizal in Kalinga and Bontoc in Mountain Province.
The component City of Tabuk also received the same recognition.
The Seal of Good Local Governance, also known as "Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal," is awarded by the DILG annually to deserving provinces, cities, and municipalities that perform well in the ten governance areas.
San Jose said the 2022 SGLG required LGUs to pass all 10 governance areas -- financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity, health compliance and responsiveness; sustainable education; business-friendliness and competitiveness; safety, peace and order; environmental management; tourism, heritage development, culture and arts; and youth development.
She said the SGLG puts premium on integrity and good performance to institutionalize good governance reforms in the continuing pursuit for meaningful local autonomy and development.
“The Seal has been instrumental in upholding transparency and accountability, cultivating progressive actions in addressing emerging concerns, and influencing behavior in supporting national and international development goals,” she said.
Meanwhile, San Jose urged LGU passers to continue doing their best in upholding transparency and accountability and demonstrating their unwavering effort to pass all of criteria for the award.
She challenged the other LGUs to do better in  succeeding runs of the SGLG and to provide better quality services and facilities to their constituents. --  PMTG/ DILG-CAR
