LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—Relief goods and other essential supplies were airlifted by helicopters of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) to disaster-stricken areas in Ilocos Norte and Cagayan provinces.
In a
statement, PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo said two PAF UH-1H
helicopters delivered a total of 4,604 lbs of relief goods consisting of food
packs, medicine, and fuel to the municipality of Adams in Ilocos Norte
recently.
Adams, which
was one of the hardest hit areas during the onslaught of typhoon “Neneng”
(international name: Nesat), was “isolated” from the rest of the province after
road infrastructure was devastated by the typhoon, authorities said.
A W-3A
“Sokol” combat utility helicopter was also deployed to Calayan town, Cagayan
town to bring relief goods to residents who were still reeling from the effect
of weather disturbance, said Castillo.
