Abra cops arrest man in shooting

PILAR, Abra -- The quick response of the police here resulted in the arrest of a suspect in a shooting incident in Sitio Rama, Barangay San Juan East evening of Oct. 30.
Citing the report submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Mafelino A. Bazar, the suspect was identified as Lodevigo Sarmiento Marmol, 36, while the victim was named Francis Kenneth Della Tejada, 54, both residents of San Juan.
Pilar police said the victim was on his way to his rice field when he passed by the suspect standing near a mini furnace.
Without any apparent reason, the suspect pulled his firearm and shot the victim.
The victim took cover behind his parked tricycle leaving him unharmed.
Responding police immediately pursued and arrested Marmol, 30 minutes after the incident.
Confiscated from the suspect were UZI submachine gun loaded with seven bullets, 15 bullets for Cal. 9mm handgun and two bullets for Cal. 45 handgun.
The suspect and confiscated items were brought to town police station where charges were prepared against Marmol.
