In the past months, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Department of Transportation (DOTR) fast-tracked the rehabilitation of the Loakan Airport to meet the target reopening of commercial flights by Christmas time.
The mayor is thankful to DOTR Secretary Jaime Bautista for the agency’s commitment in improving the airport to strengthen the city government’s economic recovery and sustainability efforts from the pandemic.
Earlier this month, the CAAP disallowed human and vehicular traffic across the runway for safety reasons while technical rehabilitation works are ongoing. – JMPS
