BAGUIO CITY — City Director Col. Francisco Bulwayan, Jr. of the Baguio City Police Office assured that the 1,567 policemen will be deployed to secure the grand opening of the Panagbenga Festival here on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
According to Bulwayan, the police personnel have been positioned in different places in the city to ensure the safety and security of the public throughout the festival celebration, the first in three years or since pandemic was declared in early 2020.
He said police presence will also be increased at bus terminals, malls, parks, markets, and other places of convergence.
“We will not only watch over peace and order here, but also traffic which is the main problem in our city, especially because of this festival we can expect an influx of tourists again,” said Bulwayan.
According to Bulwayan, they are also contacting schools located in the central business area to temporarily use their space for visitors’ parking, to reduce traffic during the highlights days of the Panagbenga celebration.
“Let’s prepare for this because there are many visitors coming. I also call on the barangay officials and other stakeholder groups to help each other in peace and order and traffic management, so that our celebration will be successful for our city,” Bulwayan said.
According to Bulwayan, there are also police personnel from the Police Regional Office-Cordillera who will be part of the deployment.
