2 NPA guerillas yield in Apayao, Ifugao

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -Two Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army guerillas voluntarily surrendered to authorities in the provinces of Apayao and Ifugao on August 16.
    Reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo Jr. said both surrenderees were former members of Militia ng Bayan.
    In Apayao, the rebel returnee surrendered after series of negotiations conducted by Pudtol town police, 1st Apayao Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), 1505th Maneuver Company of Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15) and the Philippine Army’s 17th Infantry Brigade (17IB).
    The rebel returnee handed over a homemade pistol with five bullets for Cal. 5.56 to authorities.
    In Ifugao, the other rebel returnee surrendered to elements of Alfonso Lista town police,  2nd Ifugao PMFC, Regional Intelligence Unit 14 (RIU-14), the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of Ifugao Provincial Police Office, Regional Intelligence Division and 1501st Mobile Company of RMFB15 after  series of negotiations.
    He also handed over his Cal. 45, magazine, and five bullets.
     The rebel returnees are now under the custody of respective police units for custodial debriefing and proper disposition.
