NPA arms cache found in Ifugao after ex-rebel’s tip

ASIPULO, Ifugao -- An arms cache of the communist New People’s Army was discovered by police here at Sitio Maloy, Cawayan afternoon of August 16, the regional police office said.
    Reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo said Asipulo town police found war materiel following tip from a former rebel.
    Acting on the said information, joint personnel of Ifugao Provincial Police Office under Col. Davy Vicente Limmong, Ifugao Provincial EOD and Canine Unit, Ifugao Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 1501st Mobile Company, Regional Intelligence Unit 14, 145th Special Action Company of  14th Special Action Battalion from the PNP Special Action Force and 54th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army went to the site.
    The arms cache contained two grenade rifles, a CTG 60mm HE, three CTG 40mm HE, one improvised mine, stranded wire, cell phone switch, Cal. 45 pistol without magazine and ammunition, magazine for M14 rifle and long and short magazines for M16 rifle.
    The items were brought to Asipulo municipal police station then later to PECU Ifugao for disposition.
