Tabuk ups development projects amid challenges

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – This city is pushing progress and development, this city despite problems of rapid urbanization.
Mayor Darwin Estranero said the city is Cordillera’s agro-industrial center because of its status as rice granary of the Cordillera.
This enticed numerous investors to extend their business operations to Tabuk aside from those who have established their businesses, he said, adding, this created employment and livelihood for residents.
"Tabuk will to soar. We will realize our dreams and aspirations as one of the well-developed cities north of Manila with the current pace of development that the city has undergone and is undergoing," Estranero said.
The local government is pursuing the modernization of its public market, which will be improved with construction of a central terminal and infrastructure projects that will boost the city's economy.
Vice Mayor Dick Bal-o cited need to support development initiatives of the present administration in promoting tourism, culture and labor which are the city's three major assets that could boost development.
He said the city has existing and potential tourist destinations, rich culture and sufficient labor that will help in driving growth of the local economy and beneficial in providing people with livelihood.

Tabuk is the white water rafting center of the Cordillera, situated along the stretch of the mighty Chico River, the longest river system in the region.
It a popular nature destinations among foreign and domestic visitors.
In terms of culture, he said Tabuk remains one of the major melting pots not only in the region, but also in the whole country because of numerous sub-tribes that allow mingling for growth and development of the city.
He added Tabuk also has a hardworking labor force that can fulfill the requirements of businesses wanting to operate in the city.
This is expected to generate employment for residents.
Tabuk recently celebrated its 73rd founding anniversary as a municipality, its 16th anniversary as a component city of Kalinga and held the 22nd Matagoan festival, a crowd-drawing event where people from all walks of life converge and showcase their skills, talents and products.
