BAGUIO CITY – The City Council told the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) to submit to the local legislative body a detailed report on compliance of commitments made to the city by the organizers or sponsors of bonanzas, market encounters, trade fairs or similar events in public places the past months.
Under resolution 609, series of 2023, the council said there was need for the CEPMO to ensure organizers or sponsors of bonanzas, trade fairs, market encounters or similar events in the city comply with the condition to do projects and activities as part of their corporate social responsibility.
Among commitments made by the organizers or sponsors of such activities before the local legislative body approved their events included repair or restoration of fountains at Burnham Park and rehabilitation and beautification of landscapes by providing potted roses and fertilizers.
Earlier, the body acted on several endorsements from heads of concerned offices on requests for the conduct of bonanzas, market encounters, trade fairs or similar events with the condition for organizers to strictly fulfill their commitments as basis of the approval of their separate requests.
The council will use the report of the CEPMO on compliance of organizers and sponsors of their earlier commitments to the city government as basis in approving or denying similar requests to conduct activities in parks the coming months.
This, considering there will be influx of such requests with the onset of the Yuletide season and the upcoming celebration of the annual Panagbenga which serves as the city’s major crowd drawing event where such activities are usually conducted.
The conduct of bonanzas, trade fairs, market encounters or similar events are usually organized in coordination with offices of concerned government agencies and the city government where beneficiaries of proceeds are identified as part of the corporate social responsibility of organizers or sponsors.
