Trinidad council urges mayor: Recall ban on sale of chicken dung

>> Monday, August 16, 2010

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Mayor Gregorio has stood pat on his decision not to allow the sale of chicken dung at Barangay Shilan here saying a court order has already declared this was illegal.

This, even as the town council pushed for the revocation of an administrative order signed by Abalos banning the sale of chicken dung in the area, saying it was detrimental to the environment and health of residents.

But the council said the mayor should recall his order saying the chicken dung business in Shilan must not be stop because this had been La Trinidad’s source of revenue for years.

They claimed the decision of Abalos to stop the operation of chicken dung business in the barangay was only supported by local residents in the area and not the entire council of La Trinidad.

Mayor Abalos shouldn't have just closed those chicken dung business. Where will the farmers get a less toxic fertilizer? Abalos just placed a damage not only in the economy but also in the farming industry. I believe there is still a win-win solution in this case.

what a thoughtless and abrupt act of our mayor Abalos. He shouldn't have closed those chicken dung business. Where will our farmers get a less toxic fertilizer? This is a damage to the economy and agricultural industry of La Trinidad.

I hope next time, our mayor study well first his plan before his move and look for a win-win solution to problems.
