ITOGON, Benguet-- The
local government here has set up quarantine facilities in the preparation
for return of residents stranded elsewhere during the enhanced community
quarantine.
Mayor
Victorio Palangdan during the Laging Handa Network Briefing today
said the Evacuation Center in barangay Ucab which was
used during Typhoon Ompong in 2018 has been converted
as a quarantine area for the municipality where
returning residents would be isolated for 14-days before being
allowed to go back to their communities.
The municipal
government, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Office, Municipal Health Office
and Municipal Social Welfare and Development set up tents and beds at the
quarantine facility that could accommodate at least 18 individuals.
Personnel
from the Department of Health regional office have inspected the
facility.
Another
facility that could accommodate more individuals is also being prepared in
Poblacion.
Meanwhile,
overseas workers going home to Itogon were advised to coordinate
with the LGU and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration for them to be
quarantined first at the Teachers Camp isolation facility in Baguio City.
The Teachers
Camp was designated as an isolation facility for returning OFWs for residents
of Baguio City, Benguet and Mountain Province.
To date,
Itogon is COVID-free. (JDP/ RMC-PIA CAR)
