LAOAG CITY – The number of new Covid-19 cases in Ilocos Norte reached the 300 mark anew last week even as the province reverted to a modified enhanced community quarantine, the second most restrictive quarantine classification, the provincial government said.
The 300 new cases was the second highest ever logged in the province since the pandemic began last year. On Saturday, a record-high 312 new infections were added to Ilocos Norte’s Covid-19 tally.
Ilocos Norte was previously under general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions. GCQ is the third least strict quarantine classification.
Laoag City still has the most number of active infections with 1,038, followed by Batac City (424), and the towns of Bacarra (255), Bangui (242), Sarrat (204), Dingras (183), Pagudpud (146), San Nicolas (135), Pasuquin (121), Paoay (119), and Dumalneg (103).
The cultural town of Adams is the only area that has zero active Covid-19 cases, according to the data from the provincial government.
So far, Ilocos Norte has recorded at 8,456 Covid-19 cases since last year, including 4,927 recoveries and 125 deaths.
