11 held for drugs in Cordi; P2.5-K marijuana burned

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police arrested 11 persons in Cordillera for illegal drugs even as P400,000 worth of marijuana was discovered and burned in a plantation in Tinglayan, Kalinga on Oct, 16 to 22.
    This, as police discovered P2,064,000 worth of marijuana plants and seedlings Oct. 24 in Sitio Batangan, Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet.
    The Tinglayan and Kibungan police marijuana eradication drives netted a total of around P2.5 million marijuana confiscated and burned in said areas.
    Records from the police regional operations division for the week bared  Benguet Police Provincial Office arrested four drug suspects while Baguio City Police Office arrested three with two each in  Abra and Kalinga.
In Benguet, arrested were Clifford Subang, 35; George Alhado, 36; John Daguines, 44 and Roly Bustarde, 31.
In Baguio City, arrested were Rizand Lozano 36; Eduardo Dulay Jr., 35; and Daniel Fillarca, 23.
    In Abra, nabbed were Randy Tumalip, 40 and Joseph Alcanzaren, 42 while in Kalinga were Colle Me Villa, 28 and Manuel Sumedca, 22.
    Weeklong anti-illegal drugs operations resulted in seizure of a total of 21.62 grams of suspected shabu worth P153,478. 
    All arrested suspects are now facing charges for illegal drugs.
    Meanwhile, in Kalinga, a plantation site was discovered in Barangay Ngibat, Tinglayan town.
    Elements of Kalinga PPO, RMFB15, and PDEA-CAR found 2,000 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants worth P400,000.
    Marijuana plants were uprooted and burned at the site by lawmen while while investigations are ongoing to identify cultivators of marijuana plantation sites.
    Meanwhile, based on the reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Mafelino A. Bazar, elements of 1st Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company and Special Action Force, while conducting patrol in Sitio Batangan, Brgy. Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet discovered on Oct. 24 nine marijuana plantation sites planted with 10,020 fully grown marijuana plants worth P2,004,000  and 1,500 pieces of marijuana seedlings worth P60,000.
    All marijuana plants were uprooted and burned at site while an investigation is ongoing to identify the cultivators of marijuana plants.
