BESAO, Mountain Province – Police found another abandoned New People’s Army encampment here in Barangay Suquib on August 16. Reports to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo Jr. said police under Mt. province police chief Col. Sibly Dawiguey Jr. with personnel from the Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Regional Intelligence Unit-14 (RIU-14), 143 Special Action Company (SAC), 14 Special Action Battalion (SAB) of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF), and the Naval Intelligence Security Group-North Luzon (NISG NL) discovered the encampment while conducting patrol operations.
Police seized flags marked CPP NDF (Communist Party of the Philippines, "Armas, Makibaka, Bagong Hukbong Bayan (BHB) and Leonardo Pacsi Command, an M16 A1 rifle, portable radio; five M14 magazines, clothes; educational paraphernalia and personal belongings believed to be owned by members of communist rebels at said camp.
All said items were turned over to Besao police station for disposition.
To date, said police units are searching adjacent areas of the CTG encampment, the regional police information office said.

illegal drugs after they were arrested in buy-bust operations in Cordillera
August 14.Based on the reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo Jr., the arrested suspects were identified as Exel Gandeza Baro, 43; Juvina Osud Baro, 49, Rolly Navia Alban, 41and Ryan Pajardo Carino, 41, the regional police information office said in a report.
In Abra, suspects Exel and Juvina were arrested by elements of Abra Police Provincial Office and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 after they sold a sachet of suspected "shabu" weighing around 0.16 grams worth P1,020 to a cop who posed as buyer.
Another suspected "shabu" weighing 0.16 grams valued at P1,020 was confiscated from suspects.
Arresting police said the suspects were newly identified drug personalities.
They were both under surveillance for months before their arrest.
In Benguet, elements of Benguet Police Provincial Office, Regional Intelligence Division and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera arrested Carino after he sold a sachet of suspected "shabu" weighing around 0.37 grams worth P2,516.
In Baguio City, Alban was captured by joint operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit, Camdas Police Station, City Intelligence Unit and RID-COR after he sold a sachet of suspected "shabu" weighing around 1.87 grams worth P12,375.
Inventory of confiscated items was witnessed by representatives from Dept. of Justice, barangays and media.
Suspects were brought into the custody of arresting police units.
Piddig stabbing suspect nabbed

Ilocos Norte -- Operatives from the Piddig Municipal Police Station led by
Police Captain Rudy James Jacalne arrested an individual who was allegedly
involved in a stabbing incident at Barangay 23 in this town.
Police identified the suspect as Alex Quicquic, construction worker and a resident of Barangay San Antonio, who was nabbed by authorities after allegedly stabbing the victim identified as Romel Domingo, a construction worker.
Initial reports disclosed the suspect and the victim were having a drinking spree at the residence of a certain Philip Quilit when a heated argument ensued between them but they were pacified by a certain Joel Pascua.

Citing records from the PRO Cordillera's Regional Operations Division, the regional police information office bared the two drug suspects were arrested in possession of 3.17 grams of suspected shabu valued at P21,555.
The two suspects were identified as Edward Oximana Neri, 34 and Michael Agsicio Dilan, 28.
Both suspects are now under the custody of arresting units and are facing charges for violation of the provisions of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Bus hits trike; woman dies in P’sinan crash

BINALONAN, Pangasinan — A woman died after her motorcycle was hit by a bus in this town on August 12.
Sarah Jane Paringit, 29, was traveling along the highway in Barangay Bued when she figured in the accident.
Police arrested bus driver Stephen Fiarawe, 40, of the Pangasinan Solid North Bus Transit.
The bus reportedly tried to overtake, causing it to hit the motorcycle.
